Interview with the Steve Farfan: How long have you been drawing for real (like not stick figures)? 8 years... Gotta love art! =D What kinda art do you like the most? Believe it or not, realistic paintings. However, anime and disneyish style is much faster to doodle. How did you get so good at it? Probably the most important thing to remember is that you always have room to learn. Having said that, my skill level is very achievable for anybody who studies alot. In fact, only recently, have I achieved proffessional status. The minimum technical skill you need are moderate mastery in both 3d perspective and human anatomy. As you persue your college degree, be sure to get at least one class in figure drawing. That's where I learned how to draw what I see, instead of just what I know. This enabled me to increase my learning speed drastically! Though, before or after formal schooling, it's good to try to read and practice from drawing books. When drawing from life, make sure you think about the how everything relates to each other in terms of length, width, thickness, distance, and proportion. You will find yourself internalizing all sorts of neat information. Try to emulate your favorite styles of art, then mix all of what you feel are the best qualities, along with your hard-earned technical skill. Try many strategies, each of them will help you learn in a different way. Your art disgusts me greatly, why do you draw it? Art is fiction, you can't expect me to believe in something that's not real. A movie script writer may make a horror story, but you know he's not gonna hurt anyone, he's just making a story and some money along the way. Also, some of the best stories have monstrous or curious elements. Like the destruction of humanity, an illict love between the kids of different families, soul eating creatures from hell, a monster created with the scraps of over 100 people, and the list continues. Do not underestimate the value of creative thinking, even if it seems weird, it can lead to a classic. I have to try to draw as freely as possible because of this. It is my opinion that the greatest story ever is drawn by god. We exist with the full level of variety, complexity, oddities, good, and evil. Horrible horrible things happen, as well as incredible maricles. When immortal souls are considered, I think even the worst evil people will learn from their mistakes, and achieve heaven. At the end of the day, we have control over the individual part of our existence. I will do everything in my power to be that nice, respectful, and understanding person. This also means not forcing religion on anybody and not hating on any group of people, even if it's popular to. Can i draw your characters? Yeah, and you can even make money on them in commissions. Royalty fees don't apply to one image sold to one person. If you want to sell one an item to multiple people, like a story, print, comic, animation, you must contact me so you can sign a contract that would give you permission to sell the item(s) at the royalty fee listed. You need to write the names of the characters being used and their copyright to me. Example "Butter, Caramel, Tomi Blue Ready, are copyrighted by Steve Farfan". I reserve 100% rights on my characters and story. How do i contact you? Think consider these before contacting me on an instant messenger. 1. You MUST be an adult! No exceptions! 2. I sometimes am pretty busy with artwork, talking to me too much means I get less done, that means less art to see =( 3. Good artists or friends can talk to me much pretty much whenever 4. If you just want to say how much you like my artwork, please e-mail me. aim: stevefarfan msn: stevefarfan@gmail.com yahoo: stevefarfan icq: 301498237 e-mail: stevefarfan@gmail.com |
